What is this place about? Paul Hopkins is the founder of Spiritual Realities and the Spiritual Realities Academy — a global teaching community devoted to embodied Christian spiritual experience. Not religion as moral management. Not faith as information. The living reality of transformation, heavenly engagement, and what it means to be a Son or Daughter of the Living God.
What Paul teaches — and why it’s distinctive
Most Christian teaching addresses the mind. Paul’s work addresses the whole person — body, soul, and spirit understood as a single, integrated reality rather than separate departments with the spiritual part in charge of the rest.
The central conviction running through everything at Spiritual Realities is this: the change most people are looking for — real, lasting, structural transformation — does not come from trying harder. It comes from metamorphosis. The same Greek word Paul uses in Romans 12. Not gradual improvement. A reorganisation of the entire living form around a new animating principle. Something that happens in the nervous system, in the body, in the deep architecture of how we perceive reality — what the ancient Greeks called the Kardia, the Nous, and the Dianoia.
Paul’s teaching draws on the Hebrew mystical tradition, the Desert Fathers, Paul’s letters (particularly Romans, Galatians, and Ephesians), and the ancient architecture of the human heart as described across the Hebrew and Greek scriptures. He is particularly focused on what he calls the law/tree connection — the structural reason the flesh cannot generate the divine life it reaches for, and what the cross resolved at the level of mechanism rather than merely metaphor.
He teaches that prayer was never meant to be transactional — a request list aimed upward. It was always meant to be engagement: embodied, active, heaven-reaching, involving the whole person including the body. And that the Kingdom of God is not a future destination but a present, governing reality already planted within new creation humanity — one that patterns everything it touches around a different order.
Background
Paul’s formation drew from several streams. Early involvement with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) shaped a conviction that faith must be lived and relational, not merely studied. Academic experience in teaching and research developed a disciplined approach to complex ideas — the ability to trace an argument through ancient texts carefully and communicate it clearly to people at different starting points.
These threads — the experiential and the rigorous — run through everything at Spiritual Realities. The community is not anti-intellectual. It takes the ancient texts seriously as architecture, not metaphor. But it insists that understanding alone is not the destination. The invitation is always to experience, to engage, to discover what the ancient design actually feels like when it becomes a lived reality.
About Spiritual Realities
Spiritual Realities is a global online community and teaching academy. It is not a church in the conventional sense, though many members are actively part of local churches. It is a community of people — from diverse backgrounds, traditions, and starting points — who share a conviction that there is more to Christian spiritual experience than most traditions have made available.
The Academy runs live modules, courses, and community spaces covering spiritual transformation, engaging the heavens, the Kingdom of God, biblical spirituality, and spiritual experience. Current and recent modules include the Seven Spirits, Meditation Revisited, Embodied, Ecstatic States, Tones and Groans, and Engaging the Faces of YHWH.
The community operates in English, German, and French, with members across Europe, North America, Africa, and beyond.
What holds it together is not agreement on every point of doctrine. It is a shared hunger — for the transformation that willpower and fresh starts couldn’t produce, for the genuine heavenly engagement that most religion has quietly closed off, for a community where hearts are genuinely locked together rather than merely consuming content in parallel.
